What to bring:

Start by thinking you’re going for a day out at the beach, bring suitable swimwear, flip-flops, a towel and sunscreen. If you tend to wear lots of jewellery, best to leave it at home as it all has to be removed before going out on the water. The Aqua Park remains open even in the rain – you’re going to get wet anyway! You will be able to place personal items into the lockers provided. The lockers require a small padlock to lock. Combination padlocks can be purchased at reception or you can bring your own.

It’s a good idea to arrive already wearing your swim shorts or have your costume on under your clothes, as after you’ve been checked in you’ll be given a wetsuit to put on over your swimwear so this will save you time changing.

Wetsuits are recommended but not mandatory and available to buy online for click and collect. No wetsuit hire is available. Tip: The best way to put a wetsuit on is by starting at your ankles and putting it on bit by bit, just like putting on a pair of tights. Remember, the zip goes at the back. If you are new to the whole wetsuit thing, they can feel tight and restrictive when you first put them on, don’t panic they loosen off in the water. You can rinse under the shower straight away to loosen them or cool down.

Don’t forget a dry change of clothes for when you come off the water though. There are changing facilities and hot showers and we advise bringing a changing robe.

Wetsuit shoes? We recommend keeping your flip/flops beach shoes to avoid walking around the site barefoot, wetsuit shoes are allowed on the park and can provide you with a lot more stability. However, if you want to fully embrace the spirit of the Aqua Park challenge and slip/slide your way around the park, then they are not needed.

On the water:

Once you are changed and ready, The team will play the safety briefing video at your session start time, after which you will be moved to the pontoon ready for launch. Will your family be able to conquer The Mammoth? Who is a flipper and who is a flopper? Flips and tricks are allowed on our flip or flop tower this year!

Action Cameras: an essential tool is your wanting to take away all those slips, trips, flips and laughs for either for a home video or to share online. For your safety, they have to be secured on a chest mount underneath your buoyancy aid, no selfie sticks or phone cases are allowed. We recommend the GoPro with a floaty case. Fear not though, we have an Aqua Park photographer on deck and you have the opportunity to get a group photo before you head out on the water. These are available to download from our website after your session. Tip: if it’s a big day out and you want some action shots of your group on the park, mention it to the photographer on the start dock, they can then ensure to capture your group take on the obstacles.

After your session:

Once you’ve finished your session and returned to shore, you will be asked to dunk and rinse your wetsuit to clean it before returning it to us. Remember to stay hydrated, a 50-minute session can burn up to 550 calories, so pack some water and make sure you re-hydrate. We welcome you to bring your reusable containers too!

There is an area spectator area with great visibility of the action on the water and refreshments are available from the watersports centre. The Lakeside shopping centre boasts a variety of restaurants and Cafes for you to unwind and refuel after taking on the obstacles. action-packed family day out.
