Amen’s Story
My best friend worked at the Aqua Park Cardiff. She kept going on about how nice everyone was there and telling me that it was a great place to work. So, the vacancy was appealing to me!
It was nice to tell all my family and friends that I work as a lifeguard, because who doesn’t want to say that they work as a Lifeguard!
Summer 2024 was my second summer working here. The reason that I came back was that the community of co-workers who work here are tight and we are all around the same age which makes it easier for everyone to be friends and get along so well.
The main difference with working more than a year at Aqua Park is that you have gained experience from the first year and now I am dual trained. This means I have had customer service training and I can work on dry land and out on the water. I have great experience to put on my CV.
In summer 24 I became the Aquapark Social Secretary, (or Mastermind of Merriment) which has led to me gain organisation skills and management skills like leadership and confidence.
If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard or joining the team, you should do it, as it great to know that if you are out in public and need to use first aid or do a lifesaving procedure in open water, you can do that.
