My Aqua Park Adventure began when I first came to the park with my swim club. I had the most exhilarating experience! I applied to be a lifeguard, as the OWL qualification would be valuable and the thought of working at the park outdoors in the summer was fun and exciting. At my interview the Site Manager spent time explaining what the role consisted of and answered all my questions.
I have been swimming with a club since I was 8. I like to be outdoors, doing sports and learning new skills.
A lifeguard has many responsibilities, such as observing the park to make sure it didn’t get crowded at certain points, as well as helping customers and making sure they enjoyed their time on it.
From the start everyone was enthusiastic and nice which made me feel a part of the Aqua Park team immediately and as the season progressed, I made many friends. The events that were held on and off the park with the team made us all so much closer and made working at the park really enjoyable.
Every shift was a different experience. It was well organised as I could see an overview of my shifts throughout the summer. Working outdoors in the sun was amazing and I enjoyed engaging with customers and work colleagues as everyone is there to have a great time.
While I continue to study, being a lifeguard gave me an insight into work life and boosted my confidence as no two interactions with customers are the same. I have gained multiple experiences to talk about in future interviews and learnt beneficial life skills whilst working at the park. I thoroughly enjoyed my summer season at the Aqua Park and I would love to do it all again next year.
